My Fibroid Journey

September 6, 2023 was the day I found out I could possibly have fibroids clinically referred to as leiomyoma. I was due for my annual exam and my pelvic exam was on the list for my annual check up. My doctor performed a physical examination, which she could not make an absolute determination if it was an actual fibroid or not at the time. My physician directed me to receive an ultrasound in order to conclude the prognosis. Approximately a week and a half later it was determined, I in fact have fibroids, not one but several. I was bummed about the diagnosis, but not defeated. At that point, I knew I had to start my journey on finding out more about this problem, figuring how to heal myself, consider surgery, or wait it out until I approach menopause. I was also severely anemic (low iron) and deficient in Vitamin D. The vitamin supplements have been a catalyst to help with my increase in energy and help with my hair loss that I was experiencing. Looking back on it I am grateful that I made the appointment to visit my physician to check up on the misfires of my body. This is your sign to go see your doctor for your yearly exam.
